Brethren of Adeste Fideles Lodge No 7425 held their annual installation meeting at Woolton Golf Club with master Mason Geoffrey Roberts being installed into the chair of King Solomon.
The WM William Dickinson got proceedings off to an efficient start and on conclusion of the routine business the lodge was raised to the second degree. The lodge DC Greame Scott then announced that Andrew Whittle Chairman of the Woolton Group and the representative of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison was without and seeking admission.
William said that the lodge would be please to admit him. Andrew was accompanied on this occasion by fellow grand officer Roy Pyne, Woolton Group Vice Chairman Mike Cunliffe and other Provincial grand officers. Andrew was welcomed to the lodge by the WM William Dickinson.
Time then came for the formal business of the evening, the WM asked David Walmsley if he would he assist him by occupying the position of senior warden, he then asked Graham Benson to remain as junior warden and John Bell that of inner guard. Master elect Geoffrey Roberts was presented by Peter Williams; Geffrey was then asked to take his obligation.
The lodge was then raised to the third degree; the customary salutations were then given to the grand officers Andrew Whittle and Roy Pyne with the senior Provincial grand officer present David Newland accepting salutations on behalf of the Provincial grand officers.
All those below the rank of an installed master were asked to retire from the lodge for a short while. Geoffrey was then ably and sincerely installed as WM by William Dickinson. Geoffrey was presented with superb explanations of the working tools by William Dickinson third degree, David Walmsley second degree and Graham Benson first degree. Following on from this, Geoffrey then installed his officers for the ensuing year.
The address to the newly installed master was given by Peter Williams, other addresses were to the deacons by David Walmsley, to the tyler by David Walmsley, Andrew Whittle then gave the address to the brethren of the lodge. Andrew then had pleasure of bringing the congratulations and good wishes from the Provincial Grand Master, commenting on the manner in which the WM had been installed into the chair by William Dickinson. Andrew then whished Geoffrey well for his term in office.
Geoffrey then had the pleasure of presenting two cheques to Andrew, in total for £300 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. Andrew thanked the brethren for their generosity. The lodge was then closed and the brethren then retired to the festive board for a delightful meal.
